Cassiobury Knights 5 - Comets 3

The anticipated rematch with Comets started with the Knights clearly in control, Alex took the gloves, Owen and Hugo were firm a the back and cleared there lines easily, Adam, Joseph and Dhillon controled the middle of the park and and Tom taking the Captains armband was holding the ball well up front. Within the first couple of minutes Joesph burst through and burried the ball into the net as superbly taken effort and a great way to score his first goal for the club, this was soon followed by Joesphs second in a almost identical move. Joesph, Dhillon and Tom made way for Ben, Sam and Ollie and the Knights were still in control Ben put in some typically hard challenges Ollie played with his normal manner not seeming to move but always getting the tackles in when it counted and Sam was calm and in control when on the ball. Soon the Knights were three up when Adam had the ball in the net. as the boys were rolled on and off they begain to gel and were really playing well. Comets offered little in response until late in the first half when there best player hit an shot which although brilliant Alex nearly managed to get his hands on.

Half time came and went and Dhillon took over the Gloves, Alex slotted into midfield and the ball was moved around the pitch with ease, it was not long before Adam had the ball in the net again, Comets had to chase the game and changed formation and pushed their best players though the middle this came off for them and they and managed two more goals both of which gave Dhillon no chance to bring the score to 4-3 where it remained until 10 minutes to go. .....At this point the it was noticed that Comets had been playing 8 a-side and the Knights 7 a-side "thanks David" so the Knights pushed on another player and quickly they were back in control again. Not long after Adam received the ball on the edge of the box with his back to goal, a quick knock to the side and he swivelled and put a screamer passed the keeper, there was no way back for Comets

The Knights pushed the ball all around the park, Owen and Hugo were clearing up well at the back, Ollie, Ben, Sam, Adam, Joseph, Adam and Alex held firm in the middle and the knights continued to push and a late effort from Adam rebounding back off the bar was the closest they came to increasing there lead.

Final Score
Cassiobury Knights 5 - Comets 3

Well played all of the boys, and thanks to Paul for being the Ref.

Sunday 24th September
Comets "A" 0 - Cassiobury Knights 0

A wet start to the Sunday saw the Knights go away to Comet's, the team welcomed Dhillon Daksha and Joseph Crane into the squad and they both started the match, Comets were well organised and with the slope behind them had the Knights under some early pressure Ben had the gloves and during the first half and made some crucial saves, the Knights soon settled into the game and were able to clear their lines and at times played some great football.

Rangers best chance of the first half saw Joesph break through the middle and curl the ball around the goalkeeper but unfortunately just around the post.

The second half came with Peter taking over the gloves from Ben, all the boys began to put themselves in great positions and began to put Comet's under a lot of pressure, Adam had a couple of shots flying wide and Alex and Joesph went close and during one goaline scramble somehow Comets cleared the ball off the line. Comets were still dangerous on the break but the defense of Owen, Sam and Tom held firm, when Comet's did break through Peter performed his usual heroics and threw himself over the ball. Alex, Dhillon, Adam, Joseph and Ben exchanged striking and midfield duties and with the slope behind them were linking up well.

Overall it was a very tough match and the boys all did themselves proud, a draw was a fair result and Comets will prove worthy adversaries in the return match next week.

Sunday 17th Sept
Cassiobury Knights 4 - Evergreen 0

The knights first home game of the season against Evergreen saw a full squad turn out, all they boys who couldn't make the first game were given a starting role which saw Ben Magennis, Hugo Sinclair and Alex Cox take to the pitch.

The Knights settled into the game and inside the first 10 minutes Owen Shann had the ball in the net, Alex Cox followed with a goal in his first game for the Kinghts a third goal for Adam Allaway and a first goal for Ollie Schofield saw the knights run out easy winners.

Seth and Peter shared the gloves but neither were really busy, Owen was more advanced than in the first match, Ben and Ollie put in some typical strong tackles, Adam, Tom, Sam and Hugo gave there all in midfield and Alex showed some great skill and speed in running through the defensive lines.

Sunday 10th Sept
Abbots Youth 1 - Cassiobury Rangers Knights 2

Well the season has started and the "Knights" kicked off on their first ever match with a battling away game against Abbots Youth, despite the opposition showing clear signs of having an established side and taking an early breakaway lead the under 7's dug in well and started to play.

The boys settled down and were performing well, Seth Cohen clearly had glue on his gloves as everything stuck to his hands, Peter Noren and Ollie Scofield were holding firm in defence, Owen Shann, Sam Bird and Adam Allaway were covering a massive amount of ground in the midfield and Tom Atfileld was chasing/holding the ball well as the lone striker.

Not long after going behind the game was turned around in the space of 5 minutes with Adam streaking away from the last defender and calmy smashing the ball into the net, shortly after as Abbots failed to clear their lines Adam had the ball in the net again.

As half time came and went and the team was reshuffled with Peter Noren taking over the gloves and Owen and Sam filling in at the back. Abbots started to pressurise more and more as Cassiobury ran out of steam, Abbots had the luxury of fresh legs with their 3 rolling substitutes and were clearly on top but with Owen mopping up the attacks and Peter throwing himself on the ball as soon as it appeared in the area the boys ran themselves into the ground and ensured they did not surrender the lead.

Abbots will feel they let a draw escape them but Cassiobury came out on top

Result Abbots Youth 1 - Cassiobury Rangers "Knights" 2

Man of the match - No doubt all 7 of the boys - well done, long may it continue.
